Riga Energy Agency (REA) is an independent, non-profit municipal agency founded in 2007 in order to ensure efficient energy management towards smart and sustainable urban development.
The overall aim of the GreenSAM project is to increase the acceptance of eco-friendly mobility services among senior citizens. Therefore, the project develops a toolbox with guidance for improved participation of elderly citizens in green urban mobility solutions. Furthermore, model solutions that can help to increase the share of silver agers in green mobility modes will be developed and evaluated.
The main objective of the INNOVATE project is to develop and roll-out integrated energy efficiency service packages in 11 target territories. Implementing energy retrofits of residential buildings involves a myriad of market players – construction companies, craftsmen, real estate agencies, financing institutions, consultants, energy auditors – who are not organised and coordinated so as to offer easy, global and guaranteed energy saving solutions to homeowners. Cities and regions have the most accurate knowledge of the buildings, energy sources and people in their areas. They are in the most favourable position to develop together with their partners integrated energy efficiency service packages attractive for homeowners
HUPMOBILE's objective is to provide a holistic approach to the planning, implementation, optimisation and management of integrated, sustainable mobility solutions in Baltic Sea port cities. Mobility in this context includes both people and goods (i.e. freight, cargo logistics and delivery). Concrete examples of innovations addressed are greener urban logistics and combinations of goods- and passenger traffic, intelligent traffic systems-based services, tools for stakeholder participation, and new tools for transportation mobility management and Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS).
Through creation of a dialogue platform for Baltic and German cities, the project enables the exploration of strategies for sustainable urban infrastructure. In the long term, mutual learnings and common project development contribute to the discussion and development of sustainable and climate-friendly smart city concepts that can be implemented on a long-term. The project aims to contribute to the scientific and political discourse on smart cities, hoping to encourage cities to become more active in the field of climate mitigation through smart infrastructure.
Through different activities and measures, 10 partner cities want to make it easier and smoother for their citizens to combine walking, cycling, the use of public transport as well as shared mobility ( bikes, cars, e-cars and bikes) as a more sustainable alternative to individual private car use. The consortium of cities, NGO´s, universities and expert partners are applying a low threshold approach for sustainable urban mobility, attractive and easy to adopt for follower cities. Within the project, the partner cities define a pilot area, in which they implement different activities and measures on multimodality and mobility management.
The project BSR electric aims to enhance the utilization of e-mobility in urban transport systems around the Baltic Sea Region by demonstrating potential applications of various types of urban e- mobility such as electric city logistics, e-Bikes, e-Buses, e-Scooters and e-Ferries. Transnational pilot activities will outline how different e-mobility applications can be implemented in practice and will guide public authorities, companies, planners and transport providers in the process of integrating these into urban transport strategies.
ATELIER focuses on developing citizen-driven Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) in the two Lighthouse Cities Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Bilbao (Spain). Their successful implementations will then be replicated and tested for feasibility in the six Fellow Cities Bratislava (Slovak Republic), Budapest (Hungary), Copenhagen (Denmark), Krakow (Poland), Matosinhos (Portugal), and Riga (Latvia).
This Action Planning network aims to design integrated urban policies in the building sector, a major consumer of raw materials. Since there is a gap in knowledge on this topic, URGE develops an in-depth understanding of this theme and a first plan for a tailor-made methodology. This will be implemented in large construction tasks of the city partners, thus, contributing to the transition towards a circular economy.
